Implant Denstistry

Implant dentistry is an exciting part of the dental field that allows replacement of missing teeth. Titanium, just like that used for knee and hip replacements, replaces the missing tooth root. This is accomplished through a surgical procedure at the specialist’s office. After a period of “integration” (as it is known in dentistry), this new titanium root can be used to support crowns, bridges, partial or complete dentures. Implants can even be used to assist the orthodontist in moving teeth.

The advantages of implants include a very natural look and feel to the replacement tooth, avoidance of treating or placing stresses on adjacent teeth and the preservation of the underlying jaw bone. Once restored implants can be cleaned and chewed upon similarly to natural teeth. Regular dental visits help to insure the maximum longevity possible.

We have examples of implant dentistry in our photo section.
